[00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:09] It's just deeply absurd. I mean, at this point it's beyond the pale. It never stops. It never stops. And yet the 49ers keep winning 3630 over Arizona. I think Jake said it best when we did our preview show. They're going to win, but it ain't going to feel good. I'm not sure he was as specific as the way. This didn't feel good. But the 49ers won and it's hard to say it felt good. That said, 3 0, Brock is playing like an MVP. Kyle is absolutely on one and there's a lot of other really good things to get into with this game. Welcome to the post game Live rap. Dieter Kurtenbach. So Dieter minus Hutch in this one. This, this is going to be, this is going to be a weird one because I do want to get into all the super duper positive things, but I imagine we're just gonna go over substation conspiracy theories for 40, maybe 50 minutes. [00:01:09] Feel free. Do whatever the hell you want. They don't stop getting injured. That said, they also don't stop winning. And I, I was deeply, deeply impressed with a lot of things that happened in this game. Let's go over the injuries, if you will, so indulge me. [00:01:25] Trent Williams stinger did not return and you could tell that Federian Lowe and Connor Colby never practiced together. You could tell because the left side of that offensive line was rough to watch down the stretch. [00:01:37] Good thing you got Brock purdy and Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. So that's Trent Williams. We'll keep an eye on that. Mike Evans has a strange, bizarre injury that no one can quite pinpoint the genesis of. So he came into the game with a hip injury that did not seem to be a problem for Mike Evans, who had one of the sickest catches you will ever see in this contest. [00:02:03] Let's just talk about that for a half second. I know I'm the the champion of A sides. Mike Evans's catch was absolutely disgusting. [00:02:10] This is it almost is to the point where I've always been a little bit on the fence on like, is Mike Evans a Hall of Famer? Because I know the bar for hall of Famer is exceptionally high like and even more high now with some certain rules. And you can certainly make a very good argument for him. Matt Mayoko can no longer make that argument, sadly. But I always thought he was kind of on the fence, like he needed a couple more. And I think the same thing with Kittle and I think the same Thing with Fred, they are elite of elite players, but are they hall of Famers? I don't know under the current guidelines. When I saw that catch from Mike Evans today, I'm like, that he's hall of Famer. He's all. That was it got it, got it, got him over. It got him over. In my book, to not show his hands the entirety of that 9 route. And then first off, unbelievable pass. Just unbelievable pass. And then to just catch it on his chest. Didn't have to battle for space or anything. It's like just disgusting. It was between that and the FL and the Larry called the flea flicker the hook and ladder. [00:03:14] Just two of the sweetest football plays that you will ever see. This is the kind of stuff that I'm into. [00:03:22] Glad I packed a second pair of pants after that. [00:03:25] Absolutely incredible. But then Evans, I think it was on the third and four conversion that he caught between like three dudes right at the two minute warning of the first half. I'm pretty sure Mack Wilson, who is, is very, very strong, came in and just punched Evans right in the ribs. And clearly it wasn't an acute injury to the sense of it didn't immediately manifest. But then a couple plays later it shows up and I'm here when you. I can see him. We're at the stadium. I can see the entirety of that process. And TV probably doesn't do that justice. [00:04:06] That man was really struggling to get off the field. [00:04:10] Really struggling to the point where it was almost like I guess he got the wind knocked out of him. And I imagine he did. But yeah, it was a long second that he was not even half on the sidelines. He was still technically inbounds, but he was at the sidelines. He wanted to go to a knee because he just could not get all the way to the bench. Walking off. He probably should have been carded in the first place. He gets to the bench, they evaluate him a little bit further and then he gingerly walks to the cart. The cart takes him to the locker room. So it would be a stunner if Mike Evans plays next week. But we don't know. We won't know until tomorrow. We might not even know tomorrow given the strangeness of the injury and the fact that no one can really pinpoint it. So now you're down two hall of Fame players in this game. [00:04:55] Mike, Evan's over the hump. Two hall of Fame players in this game. You came into this game with six of the 10 defensive linemen. You broke camp with injured and not playing they're just making dudes up. I mean, they didn't get out the inactives for this game. [00:05:12] Didn't get out the inactives for this game until like, 30. Yeah, more like 20 minutes after they were supposed to. So at 90 minutes, you're supposed to have the inactives for the game. And the Niners didn't have it until about 70 minutes to the point where I had to send out, like, a mass text and be a total jerk about it. [00:05:27] I imagine it's because John lynch had someone stationed at Gate three, just seeing if there was anyone that he could pick up coming into the stadium to maybe give him some snaps at defensive tackle or something. [00:05:39] It was. [00:05:42] There are some players that actually took advantage of their opportunity. We'll get into those in a little bit. But it is. It is dire times. By the way, when Trent Williams is in the tent or. I'm sorry, who was in the tent? Yeah, Trent was in the tent. At the same time Dominic Puni. And this is after the Christian McCaffrey over the top touchdown. At the same time, Dominic Puni is getting his neck worked on. Now. It didn't turn into anything, which is great because Dominic Cooney is very, very good. But there was literally lines for the blue tent today. [00:06:10] Okay, Evans out. Trent Williams out. Both Lenore and Green were evaluated for concussions in return. So you were down both of your top corners. Luckily, they staggered them. So a lot of Jack Jones today. Grayson Halton, one of the four remaining defensive. Defensive linemen that they had from the beginning of the year, he left this game with totally debilitating cramps. [00:06:34] Dre Greenlaw, who was unbelievably good in the first half of this game and so washed up and gassed in the second half of this game, left with the quad injury. They did throw him back in the game for a play, and then they're like, what are we doing? [00:06:49] Have we learned nothing? And so they pulled him back out. Meanwhile, his replacement, Garrett Wallow, also got injured with a stinger. What is a stinger anyway? No one can really say. [00:06:59] I'm sure I'm missing three or four injuries. I'm sure I'm missing three or four more, but that's where we're at. We got to the point in this game just. Let's just use Jordan Watkins's week as the. The great case study of what's going on with the 49ers on Monday. It was pretty clear that he was gonna. It was a big week for Jordan Watkins. Right. This is your chance you're going to get a shot that you were inactive the first two games. You had a bad training camp. You're going to get a shot here because we're just down. We're down, dudes. We need. We need a body. And then they go and they sign Brandon Cooks because they're like, I don't know if we want to give Jordan Watkins that shot. He hasn't really earned it in their eyes, right? [00:07:38] And hey, you know, we're going to do the competition. Brandon Cooks comes in here, didn't look awesome. In the very limited opportunities, we were able to see him. That deceleration, something, something there. And then so they go, okay, we're gonna go with Watkins. Good week of practice for Watkins. They were proud of him. He responded. But they're like last resort, right? Like, we hope we don't need a lot of Jordan Watkins. He'll be like a rotational guy by the end of the game. He was your starting X receiver by the end of the game. It was like Jordan Watkins or bust. Now they didn't throw to him in the second half. He did have two very nice zone catches in the first half. His. His big over route that he was able to run against nobody. [00:08:18] But, you know, Mac Wilson never decided to. To cover him. Did set up Eddie Pinero's 57 yard field goal going into halftime, which proved incredibly important seeing as Eddie Pinero missed two PATs in this game. At what point, how many PATs do you have to miss to. To nullify an Absolutely awesome 57 yard field goal? I think we got the answer today. I think it's two. [00:08:40] So this is just where this team is at. You got Vedarian Low, who didn't practice at all in training camp out there with Connor Colby, who they didn't know was going to be their starter until they got to Australia. [00:08:51] So you got that. They're going out there, they're figuring it out on the fly. Not going awesome. [00:08:58] You are. George Kittle, who tore his Achilles this calendar year, is now the first, the last, the everything of your passing game. [00:09:07] Debo was incredible, but you can't separate against press man still, but that's not new. [00:09:12] Christian McCaffrey's out here and looking incredible, looking like a throwback. This is. [00:09:19] This is just how it works here. [00:09:21] Injuries are par. This is how it works in the NFL. 100 injury rate. Game of attrition sucks. We all put it in some weird compartment of our brain and we, we just move forward. We don't think about it all that Often. And then you get to the Niners and it's a paddle to the face every single day. And I'm not overly concerned. [00:09:47] It's messed up. I might be superly overly concerned come next week. But when you have a play caller in Kyle Shanahan who is operating at a very high level right now, and a quarterback in Brock Purdy who is playing close to flawless football at an NFL level and who is the perfect Avatar Shanahan on the field, it kind of doesn't matter all that much, which is insane. It is. We are back to the meme that Jake likes to bring up so often. The, the bell curve meme where it's idiots and guys who think they're super smart and then you know, the drooling guys, guys who think they're super smart and then there's just normal people in the middle and everybody who like myself, who's like looking into the tape, watching all the cutups, looking for any sort of a tactical edge. XYZ were fools. We're idiots. Because the NFL is right. It is quarterback versus quarterback. Coach, first coach. [00:10:44] And today the 49ers, as I kind of mentioned in the end of the, the pre game show or whatever, it wasn't a pregame show. It was on Friday. But in the preview show, like, you know, we haven't even talked about Brock. Sometimes just quarterback be better. And Brock was a better quarterback than Jacoby Brissette, who's a perfectly serviceable and fine quarterback. Though I do think that he doesn't really trust his line, which he shouldn't, and he gets it out a little bit too fast. [00:11:09] This was, this was, by the way, you know, aside, if you were to just check NFL prime time or just check the highlights after this, you'd be like, wow, the Niners play great. [00:11:19] And, and you wouldn't be wrong if you experience this game, if you watch this game, if you had any stakes at all, emotional or just fiscal in this game, you know, it was not like that. You know that this was a, just a. [00:11:35] Just a disgusting slog of a game punctuated by incredible performances. Let's start with some of those incredible performances. [00:11:44] Brock, he's unbelievable right now. Do I need to even like analyze this? He's playing, he needs to up his mode in Madden. He's clearly too good for the current mode in Madden and he needs to be at all Madden mode. And right now he's playing on like, what is it? Veteran, that second level. And everything is so clear to him. It doesn't mean it's flawless, right? That would be kind of weird in the NFL. But what he's doing is just perfect execution. And you know, to just use the, the two examples, this guy has as many. [00:12:18] He has like the fifth most, fourth most game winning touchdown drives in playoff history. [00:12:25] Never get credit for that. [00:12:27] And I don't want to turn this into like a whole referendum on Brock because that's for everybody else to do. Like, if you, if you watch Brock, you're not in that ball game. [00:12:36] But if you just play narratives and just watch daytime tv, oh boy, are you in it. [00:12:41] What he's doing right now is this is the best he's ever played and he's played at MVP levels before. He is the MVP of the league through three weeks. [00:12:51] Mint the trophy, whatever that's worth. [00:12:54] The narrative should be there for him to win the MVP at the end of the year based on everything that's happening around him and the theoretical success the Niners will be having moving forward. [00:13:04] He was, he was exceptional today. And again, going to just sort of like, when was it nut cut in time. [00:13:11] You got that drive late against Arizona's making a game. Let's just pull it up here as to have very clear points of note. [00:13:22] It's a one score game. [00:13:26] Niners get the ball. Yeah, what is it? [00:13:29] It's 29, 27. What was the time there? Okay, so here we go. [00:13:35] Niners get the ball. It's 23, 20 with 13 to go. So this is a nut cutting time drive. [00:13:43] And they just feed Kittle and McCaffrey all the way down the field. Just a perfect execution. [00:13:50] Now they got a pretty cool roughing the passer penalty against him. But like you can't put your face in your hand in the quarterback's face like sorry, Josh, sweat like you earned it there. [00:13:59] Just incredible. And Kittle gets the leverage on that route. You're not stopping him. You could put Baron Browning on George Kittle and give inside lever like, what we doing here? Playing outside leverage on that. What are we doing here? So there it's 23, 20. Game is on. Arizona just scored. They scored with relative ease. Your defense is gassed. They're running through Randos. It's Fred who knows who's at corner. It's Jair Brown doing his most for better and for worse. They're rotating in safeties. They're learning new guys names on the defensive line. 23:20, fourth quarter. This is a momentum moment. [00:14:38] 8 play, 65 yards, 4 minutes, 24 seconds, 29, 20. [00:14:44] Because of course you know Pinero missed the extra point. [00:14:47] Okay, fine. You could say game sealed, right? One defensive stop, this thing's over. Well, Arizona goes 14 plays, 68 yards, 551, and boy, did it look easy. So now we're right back to where we started from, except now it's only a two point game. [00:15:03] So the Niners get the ball with 251. Now this is where we bring in Christian McCaffrey, who was exceptional all day, even if they weren't giving him the ball enough early in the contest. [00:15:15] They throw with first off. They start it by throwing it, which is bold. Not since, say it's insane because it makes sense. Right? And this is kind of the stuff that Kyle gets in trouble with a lot. Right? Well, we should throw because X, Y and Z. Yeah, but you should also run the ball because they only have two timeouts. You have the ball with two minutes and 51 seconds. They're going to get two timeouts in the two minute drill. But it's a two point game. Okay? How aggressive do you want to be? This is the stuff that Kyle gets into problems with. So he throws first and ten 35 yard line. And McCaffrey makes an unbelievable snag on a throw that was a little hurried, but was in the right spot. [00:15:53] By the way, CMC did kind of stop on a couple routes today. [00:15:57] Runs it up, first down. Okay, so now we're cooking here a little bit. Now, ironically, you're in a situation where you're like, did he get the first down too soon? [00:16:08] They try to get it to use, check. It doesn't work out on a pass with 207. So now you didn't even take enough time because the offensive line just totally fails them. So now you have 2 minutes and 3 seconds left. The 2 minute warnings coming up. So now you can do whatever you want, which is basically, you could pass if you wanted to, because there's no reason you can do whatever you want. The timeout isn't going to be used by Arizona. They haven't used the timeout yet. They're going to get this two minute warning. [00:16:31] Christian McCaffrey is stopped for three or four yards, except he just gets 12. [00:16:36] It's unbelievable. It was. We're watching it. The pile just kept moving. And credit to the offensive line, but like the pile just kept moving. [00:16:44] Ridiculous, ridiculous play. [00:16:48] But then, okay, now two minute warning. You got the two timeouts left. What are you gonna do? You run it, you give up three yards and then. Okay, we're gonna throw it Now. And now you're back into. What are you doing, Kyle? Like, you know, there's a pretty tried and true method you got. They have one timeout left. Just run the ball again. [00:17:05] Play the field position game if you have to, like be conservative. [00:17:09] They're throwing it again and there's nothing going on because nobody's separating. [00:17:14] Kittle got a little bit of a separation. You probably couldn't see it on tv, but not really. [00:17:21] And Brock just goes and runs it into the end zone for 45 yards. [00:17:28] Wow. Now then it gets called back for holding. Now it's not that big of an issue because the game's probably already over. So they run it again. They use the third timeout and then Purdy just hits Kittle for a 20 yard touchdown. Game over. Pending, of course, Arizona's next touchdown or a field goal. They kick the field goal and then. And then a very well done, I should note, very well done onside kick recovery. On one end you had McCaffrey in a triangle. And then on the other hand you had Debo in a triangle. And they execute. I mean, it was a terrible onside kick, but they executed that thing to perfection. Brant boy, your game ball to you for the onside kick. Christian McCaffrey was awesome. I don't care what the numbers were. He has the juice. He has it. He's got the bounce again. And you can tell when Christian McCaffrey has the bounce when he can do a horizontal jump cut. And yet it does not seem as if he loses any velocity on his run. [00:18:17] So he was back to doing horizontal jump cuts where it felt like it was a continuation of a forward run. [00:18:25] There's like five guys in the league can do that, like Gibbs, Bijan. [00:18:30] You can probably find two or three more. Christian McCaffrey obviously could do that. Christian McCaffrey hasn't done that in a couple of years. This year, and I would say, particularly in this game, Christian mccaffrey is doing it. He's a weapon out of the backfield. Christian mccaffrey, absolute horse, absolute dude. [00:18:47] George Kittle. [00:18:49] They turned the passing game into George Kittle as the first read in the second half because who else would it be? [00:18:59] Debo is there as kind of a gadget guy. He's in that role. Jordan Watkins has now been elevated from inactive to 1x and you're going out there with like Daryl Hodge and Jacob Cowing as a third wide receiver. If you're going with a third wide receiver, that's where you're at as a team. [00:19:17] Who is the elite player that you have, you have Christian McCaffrey, you have Kyle Jus, check who again, it kind of a bit kind of in that same Debo role, like they're here for specific things but not to can't make the car out of them. You used to be able to do it with Debo, you certainly can't do it anymore now with Debo, even though again he looks great, but you want to keep him in the role. You want him as a reliever, he's not a starting pitcher anymore. You want him as a reliever, you want him as a big time guy out of the bullpen. Kyle Juszek's always been a bullpen guy. He's never even been a closer. He's always been like a 7 6th inning guy. [00:19:50] But George Kittle, I mean George Kittle's this guy tore his Achilles in January and they just rode him home. [00:19:59] Unbelievable. Unbelievable from Kittle. Those were the big three, by the way. Evans just in the first half alone. An immense game. An immense game. [00:20:07] I want to go through over some other positive contributors today. Caitlin Black did not have the stats. I'm. I think Kalon Black is starting to see it now. It might just be Arizona and the way that they go about it, but I think Kalon Black's starting to see it. I think we're going to get a lot more Kalon Black moving forward. Once they watch this tape, I think it was like four carries for 14 yards. [00:20:25] I think that he's recognizing it and the game has slowed down for him a little bit. And if that is in fact the case, look the hell out because he has a chance to be really special. [00:20:34] Fred Warner was incredible in this game, incredible in this game. [00:20:38] Drake Greenlaw was incredible in this game until he kind of wasn't. I thought Grayson Halton looked really, really good until cramps. He looked really good and they needed him. Keon White did the up and down thing again. But when Keon White flashed, he flashed in a big way and in a necessary way. Let's give a shout out to Khalid Kareem. [00:20:58] Get your 47 jersey now. Khalid Kareem had a really nice game today. It was not flashy, it was not sexy. Ogbo Akaronko had a nice game today, though. Not as good as Kareem's in my opinion. [00:21:10] Khalid Kareem had a sack, he had a pressure. He made good plays throughout the day. Now we'll see what happens when I get deep into the tape on the run game and stuff. But to my eyes in the press box, Khalid Kareem was like a player that you really wanted on the field, which again, what the hell is going on where Khalid Kareem is somebody where you're like, we got to play him. You got to get Khalid Kareem out there, otherwise the Niners ain't going to win this game. [00:21:35] We're in the upside down demo I thought was really, really good today. The pass interference against him was horseshit. Was horseshit. And I, I, Marvin Harrison is a joke. [00:21:46] If anybody in Arizona had any stones, they'd sit him down for a while. But Diamador Lenore had him in hell. Michael Wilson had a great day, as you'd expect. That was mostly, again, I thought that Mike LaFleur did a really nice job of getting Wilson into good spots. There were some that were against Lenore, to be sure, but I thought Lenore was really, really solid today. I thought Green had his moments. I don't know if Jack Jones had his moments, but we'll leave it at that. Upton Stout remains perhaps my favorite player that I get to watch week in and week out. [00:22:18] We're gonna, I might say, some things that get us demonetized. He's such a, he's such a feisty little. [00:22:24] And I so love watching him. [00:22:27] And I just hope that the football gods have blessed him with things that they have not blessed the rest of the 49ers because the way that he plays, he's, he's got a death wish. But God damn, is he fun to watch. He is nothing but positives when I say the most demeaning, terrible things ever. What a, what an absolute he is to watch play football. And I can't get enough of it. Upton Stout, not the best game, but he had a situation today where, you know, he's setting an edge against Higgins, the, the tight end. And you got a 6 foot 5, 260 pound tight end who only comes in on run plays. And man, he just, he stood him up. You know, this notion that, yeah, he got sun today. Holy crap, he bounced off the ground. Yeah, he gets sunned a lot. You know why? Because he's tiny. He's itty bitty. But like, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Y' all can watch the highlights. I'm watching every play and every play Upton Stouts doing something in there to make an impact. And yeah, you know what, if you're constantly trying to block shots at the rim, you're going to get dunked on sometimes. So be it. Keep going up for him because you're going to get the blocks and the blocks are going to help your team. This dude just plays winning football. I thought Jaden Duggar had a nice enough game. They, they kind of used him in Stout and they were, you know, obviously switching things up. [00:23:43] A quick question. [00:23:45] Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this. I didn't hear anything. [00:23:48] Where the hell was Tyler Algier? [00:23:52] Where'd he go? [00:23:54] Why didn't I see him at all in the second half? That's a really good football player. Now this Jeremiah Love is going to be a real problem. Like, he's got, he's one of those guys who can do the jump cut and continue his, his velocity, but you're running a, a third and one, a fourth and one. You don't have Tyler Alger on the field. What's the point of a Tyler Roger? Give them to the Niners. Give them to another team if you're not going to use Tyler Algier, who's a wonderful player. When Duggar was on the field, it was typically when Algier was on the field, and I thought he did a really, actually nice job in the run game. There were a couple missed tackles. Listen, it's a rookie. You give him grace, but I think that he's outperformed. Well, he's been forced to be in a situation where he's been on the field more than he probably should be. And I think that he has earned himself more playing time while staying within the role that he's at. [00:24:42] Like, you're not going to Luke Gifford anytime soon because Duggar has played well enough. But, man, I just love, I just love Upton Stout so much. Other positive players in this game. I thought Malik Mustafa and the limited opportunities he had made an impact. [00:24:55] We'll get to the other safeties. I thought Siegel, I, I, this is a constant refrain. I don't know what Siegel's doing wrong to where they keep pulling him off the field. I'm not going to pretend as if I know more, but I think I know enough to maybe kind of get it, and I just don't get it. And I guess we'll find out this week because I'm going to ask about it. I understand trying to get Mustafa in, maybe rotating some stuff, but at what point did Jair Brown become an irreplaceable player for this team? Because I feel like I'm picking on him every week. [00:25:28] He has some flash plays. They're really nice flash plays. And then he gives back three, and it's very Clear as we've progressed through this season that teams are picking up on this more and more. When they're watching the tape and saying, let's go at 27, they're going to put 27 everywhere. Let's go at 27. It's not an enviable position for J.R. brown to be in, but at what point did he become. [00:25:53] Why can't you go with Siegel and Mustafa for a couple of series? Because I think it would look better. I think it would look better. [00:26:01] Kevin Givens had some nice burst in the second half, so shots to Kevin Givens again. Renardo Green, I thought, had a pretty nice enough day. Dom Puni had some moments in this game as well. Can we shout out Corliss Weightman for an absolute bomb of a punt in this game when the Niners really, really needed it? So preceding all of the purdy stuff that happened on the final two drives for the 49ers, Corliss Weightman, this would have been. End of the third quarter. It was unfortunate. [00:26:31] Corliss Weightman absolutely bombed one. This would have been. What was the score here? Hold on, hold on, hold on. We're gonna get it, I promise. [00:26:42] It's a third quarter again. It felt like the game was a little bit in the balance. Something was happening here. Let's. Let's keep an eye on it. And chorus Weightman, bomb one. Saran Neal had perfect coverage. Poor Saron Neal the next time they punted. [00:26:55] A terrible punt. This is when he was a jammer, a terrible punt and he just ended up in a really bad spot and the ball hit him. But Corliss Whiteman had a really, really nice punt in this game. I would have loved to have given more props to Eddie Pinero for just a rip of a fairway finder. 320 down the middle and low at the end of the first half. A critical score in this game in the moment and then it proved very later on in the contest. But you can't miss. It's like when you do the home run derby and it messes up all your swings. Like, why are we. Why are we missing extra points? I know that it's kind of been as bugaboo, but not great. Not great. [00:27:32] Who else was good? Who else was good? Watkins. Two great catches in this game. Now they were against zone. They were well schemed up, but he made the play and they were over the middle, which is something that I know the Niners coaching staff has been very concerned about him going over the middle into traffic. Now it helps that there wasn't traffic, but he went over the middle and he made two very nice catches and one of them was critical in this game at the end of the first half. So shouts to Jordan Watkins they're going to need a hell of a lot more than that. But he gave him something to chew on and he'll be in the game next week, I imagine because I don't think Brandon Cooks is doing what Jordan Watkins did today. As for everyone who's saying, oh, Larry was right, sure, yeah, we talked about it. [00:28:07] This was. We're not doing undisputed or first take here. We discussed the situation. I, I relayed what I know about the situation. [00:28:17] I was rooting for. I was rooting for him, but it wasn't my opinion was he didn't have a good training camp, that he was absolutely on the roster cutting block. That's not an opinion, that's a fact reported by me to you. And they didn't want to play him this week to the point where they brought in Brandon Cooks to maybe take his job. But he beat out Brandon Cooks this week. He got on the field and he made the most of his opportunity. And again, this is now something that they're going to have to give him more because I don't think Mike Evans is going to be around for at least a week, if not longer. Hope to be wrong about that because I love watching Mike Evans play football. [00:28:50] Adigizua Listen, I loved the Adigizua acquisition. I think it was a great acquisition for John lynch and the Niners, especially using a third round pick in this draft. Have it give me the player that can help me. He is in an unfavorable situation as now he has to be, I don't know, their only viable starting caliber defensive tackle. Which means that in essence he's got to play one technique. [00:29:18] They came out today with Grayson Holton and OSA Adigizua as their defensive tackles. One of them has to hold up against double teams if you're just running basic zone stuff as Arizona did today and that ain't his game. To the point where the Cowboys traded him to the 49ers on the basis of, well, he doesn't really hold up well in the run. And the Niners looked at it and said that's fine because we got two guys in west and Alfred Collins that are definitely not three techniques but they're going to be the guys at one technique. We can probably find another one technique if we need to. We're feeling good there. What we need is a three technique, gap splitter, get into the backfield, pass rusher from the interior because they didn't have that last year. [00:29:58] Well, now they don't have anyone who can stop the run and now they got nothing but guys. And at this point it's not even that many who can split the, you know, split a defender, split the gap and get into the backfield. I'm tricky, kind of tricky. I do think it will be better as Anthony brings up here Mikel and OSA on the same time. In a weird way, I'm doing a lot of cross sport analogies today. This is what happens when Jake's not here to ground me. [00:30:25] It's a little bit like Draymond in a stretch five for all you warriors fans out there, like if Draymond, Draymond can play the role of center as a 4. If you have a center that plays the role of a four or a stretch four. And it's going to be kind of like that where Mikel, when he gets in, which is not next week and maybe not even the week after that, but when he gets in, he can do so much of the dirty work stuff on the interior if you stunt it because you do have to get him over there and then OSA can do so much of the pass rushing stuff that you're going to want from a defensive end. So great point by Anthony. There's. [00:31:01] Let's get into the. The duds cowing. [00:31:07] Any more from cowing. They need more from you cowing. [00:31:12] That big 30 yard over route, you got to get hands on that. [00:31:17] This is what we saw again and again and again in training camp to where the play worked. You have one on one, but there's no physicality. And this is the NFL. [00:31:28] And so you get beat to the spot because someone goes right through you. [00:31:32] You need to. [00:31:35] I'm not a wide receiver coach. This is easy for me to say, but he needs to get his body into that corner there and then try to come down on the route a little bit, come to the ball a little bit. But he doesn't want to do that because he's short and he thinks that the ball is going to go over his head. And he saw that a couple times in training camp and I'm sure he internalized it and he really does not want anyone to hit him. [00:31:58] You're a gadget player at best. This is the Danny Gray problem. Like this is they need him from scrimmage, that it wasn't good enough from scrimmage today. There wasn't that many opportunities, probably on purpose, but in the one opportunity he had to have a really big play, I thought he did. All of the things that really concerned me in training camp kind of boiled into one play where the physicality wasn't there. Not that he has a lot to give, but he just didn't even do it technically correct to give himself a shot at the play. And he got absolutely sunned on it. And it could have been a huge play for the 49ers, and instead it was like they lucky he didn't get intercepted. And that's not on Brock. It just isn't. It's because you have Jacob cowing over there and that it's just not a. It's not a viable option. And if he's not a viable option, you can't put him on the field, but you need him as a punt returner. But when you have a team that doesn't have any wide receivers left, you need the punt returner to be a wide receiver. And this is where the Niners are, and it's unbelievable. They keep winning, but I expect them to keep winning, which is incred. Incredible in and of itself. Jack Jones, not the best game. Not the best. Interested to watch the tape on it, but just not the best. Connor Colby, not the best. Wasn't as bad as I think maybe some folks might make it out to be, because I do think Federian Low carry some responsibility here. And like, frankly, just circumstance was problematic here. Like, again, Viderian Low and Connor Colby never practiced together ever. [00:33:19] They sure as hell weren't practicing midweek together. So when that's the case and you're being thrown out here in crunch time, fourth quarter of a divisional game. Yeah. You're gonna expect some. Some growing pains, if you will. Fascinated to see what Trent's status is. I do imagine Viderian Lowe's gonna get a lot of practice time this week, because even if Trent is, you know, good enough to play, he probably won't practice just on the basis of Trent Williams be old and you don't want to rush it or force it. So I'm very interested in Jake's line grades on this one. I'm very interested to watch back the film early tomorrow morning and just kind of get a better feel for it, because in the moment when you know everything's moving at 100 miles per hour, you're like, oh, no, they don't know how to play together. And that's a very important part of playing offensive line is understanding the strengths, weaknesses, and, you know, kind of wants and desires of the guy next to you. And these guys just looked like they just weren't playing from same sheet music. And then Jair, like, Jair had positives in this game. He always comes with positives. And I literally have a. I built a program out and I just go play by play. And if there's a plus, I put a plus. I have little notes on every play. It's all amalgamated into this chart that I'm coming off of. And Jair always has positives. There's always a, you know, he had a great pass deflection in this game, a couple of good edge sets, and you're like, hell, yeah, this is good stuff. This is good stuff. Mind you, all the positives usually come from him playing as an in the box, effective linebacker on the strong side. But, you know, no one's listening to me or Jake when they say, just play them as a nickelback on the interior and let somebody else play safety. I'm done asking for it. So, yeah, again, great bad pass. But then, you know, Trey McBride's just working them. [00:35:06] Washed out on two perimeter runs, critical perimeter runs. Tyler Algier ran them into another the netherworld. [00:35:14] It's. [00:35:16] Maybe it's an energy thing. Maybe I, maybe, maybe I'm the bad guy. Wouldn't be the first time in that. Like when Upton Stout does it. It's like the HR meme when Upton Stout does it. Oh, you sweetie. But when Jair Brown does it, I'm like, someone call hr? [00:35:32] Might be like that. It might be like that. That said, we're at a point now where we're so far in and this is just, this is standard operating procedure. Jair is going to give up more than he gets and the flash is going to be coming in both directions. And I can't live like this anymore. Can't live like this anymore. [00:35:50] Let's give a shout out to. [00:35:53] I thought Sebastian Valdez had a pretty bad game, but not ideal circumstances to play a lot of Sebastian Valdez. Maybe that's the story of this game. They played a lot of Sebastian Valdez, Seabass, and by the way, I always thought Seabass should be a more physically unfit gentleman. That's a nickname more befitting of a. A guy who's had a couple brews. Sebastian Valdez very fit and was pretty clearly beaten up in the run game. I don't know if we see him again. Also, how bad's McKinley Jackson in practice? If they're like, let's Get Sebastian Valdez in there and then Luke Farrell. [00:36:28] Not a lot of Luke Farrell down the stretch, I think on purpose. But Feral did have a really, really good block on the the Flea Flame. Sorry, Larry. God damn it, Larry. On the hook and lateral from Evans to Debo. That doesn't work unless Feral is upfield and not engaging and then engaging at the perfect time. That's a really, really heady, smart play. It's the kind of stuff that we expect Kittle to be able to pull off, though ironically, not today, when he had the holding penalty on Brock's unbelievable touchdown run. [00:36:58] But that was a really heady play. [00:37:01] But with I, I, I'm, I, I, I'm totally flustered at this point. [00:37:10] We're just not going to have like a good read on this team until Friday and they're gonna play the Broncos and I presume the Rams are throttling the Broncos, but like the Broncos ain't. [00:37:18] They ain't scrubs, as Arizona wasn't scrubs. So the Broncos are better than the Cardinals. I think I'll find out. [00:37:24] And the attrition here is so high that now we're at a point where it's like Raheem, who I don't think got beat schematically much today, but wasn't trying all that much at the same time, and I think kind of felt the game out pretty well. [00:37:41] And Kyle, who I think was just on top of it and even when he was getting weird with worked, so you got to give him credit for it. [00:37:49] But it was kind of typical Kyle overthinking late in the game. But hey, they won. [00:37:56] It's, it's, it's all on the coaches and it's all on Brock. And again, coming back to the initial point, like this is what the NFL wants you to think the league is, and it might be. It just might be. Let's do some questions and then I'm going to get the hell up out of here. This is going to be a weird week, by the way, for the show. Just as a heads up, tomorrow I'm probably doing the tape breakdown, which I don't know if we're going to get it in. I think we'll have to get it in before Evans's injury news, though. Maybe Adam Schefter hits us up at 6 o' clock in the morning and lets us know. [00:38:29] But I'll be doing that from warriors media day Wednesday. Wednesday is going to be. [00:38:37] Wednesday will probably be normal. Thursday we got Sharks opener, so I don't. And then Friday's chaotic. I might be at a Valkyries game, which again, what is this world? [00:38:48] Maybe they don't go three games, you go Valks. So crazy week. This is the craziest time of the year for your boy. But we will endeavor to make this work nevertheless. And I'm rambling like some right now. I'm very excited for Jake's analysis, sober, thoughtful, analytical analysis of this game because I'm a blabbering fool. Speaking of blabbering fools, let's, let's do some questions here. Here we go from Tristan. Not worried about the defense. Started playing prevent once we got the lead. Also a three and out and a muff punt doesn't help. Yeah, I don't even know if they played poorly on special teams but when you miss two extra points and you have the, the muff punt, which again it's very difficult just in the moment watching the replays here to be like, man, Saran Neil because it was such a duck of a punt. It was a terrible punt. There's nothing really cowing can do because he can't even get to the spot they did a good job of. I guess you know, Saran Neal's sin is that he didn't jam up the gunner enough. But surround Neil's so good, you give him benefit of the doubt there and he's on the ground, he gets knocked over. I think he got tripped, might have been pushed over. You can help me with that. And in that he's on the ground and the ball takes such a weird bounce that it hits him. It's like what you see that in college all the time because in college no one knows what any punt is doing. But that's tough. That's tough. You don't see that at the NFL that often. I don't. I think that is. It's an error but kind of like a team error. It's just weird circumstances. The ball is not round. [00:40:20] They play with a weird egg shaped ball. It's going to bounce funny and it bounced funny there and it was a very important part of the game. [00:40:28] But yeah, I actually someone in the comments section not that long ago asked me to kind of break down the EPA's a special teams plays because if, if you watch a show, you know, because this is obviously top of mind for everybody and certainly for Jake and myself. [00:40:43] The Niners were like third and special teams EPA last year. Expected points added. But when you actually break it down they were like the 13th or 14th best special teams and a lot of that had to do with missed field goals, which have very little to do with actual special teams play. They weren't blocked, just straight up missed. So they went up against a bunch of shitty kickers last year and it really helped them in their EPA per play because you gotta give the EPA to somebody and we can't all be Rick Perry and just get rid of it. And it is I'm very curious as to what Bradley Pinion's drop punt did to their epa. I'm very curious to see what like Saran Neal's unfortunate muff punt did to their epa. [00:41:24] I will actually endeavor to get that for Friday's game or Friday's game preview, because that's the kind of that we'd like to sneak in there. But I actually really like where the Niner special teams are at when it comes to how they're coached. And again, I was so impressed with how disciplined and drilled and ready they looked for that onside kick. [00:41:45] There was no, there was no questioning at all on who should be on the field. Like the Hands team was ready to go. They knew exactly what they were doing. When Rylan switched from going to the right side to the left side, they just did a quick little shift. They knew exactly how to handle that. So that's good stuff from Brant Boyer. You can't control the way that the weirdly shaped ball bounces and you can't tell your goddamn place kicker to make his extra points, but you can tell him to make a 57 yarder. [00:42:12] But I like where Niner special teams are at. If this season goes haywire, I don't think it's going to be because of special teams and Corliss Weightman. Again, I apologize. I was, I was not familiar with your game. I know you've been in the league for a long time and I've watched people plenty of Pittsburgh Steelers games. But yeah, I got, I got owned on that one. What's our, what's our man Jack Bowmeester doing on the Rams practice squad? By the way, if Corliss Weightman ever gets injured, wouldn't it be incredible if they just signed him off the practice squad again? [00:42:38] Okay, what else should we get to here? Let's thank Rohan here for becoming a new member. And then let's just go point by point here. Indulge me with some, some seconds. It was a weird game. It deserves a weird podcast. And you're in the right place. [00:42:54] I don't care if it's debunked. They got to find a new facility, period. [00:42:58] That's a very expensive thing to do without scientific evidence. [00:43:03] I don't really give a shit at this point. If it is the substation, tip your hat. [00:43:12] It's kicking ass. I think it has more to do, and again, I'm no scientist. It could very well be the subsidy. I don't fucking. No. It probably has more to do with the fact that they're one of the oldest teams in the NFL and at the baseline and at the same time, one of the youngest teams in the NFL. On the flip side, they have a bunch of dudes who are, like, back with the team, right? And also, they're the lightest team in the NFL, and yet you watch them and you would be like, man, these boys are laying the wood. [00:43:39] The lightest team in the NFL. Dieter looks nice today. At the beginning, I did, and now we're disheveled. [00:43:44] Yes, he does. Thank you, Cynthia. Appreciate you both. [00:43:47] I'll take it. I am now just clicking random buttons. Here we go with the Evans thing. He couldn't breathe, that's for sure. But then why. [00:43:57] Why couldn't he breathe? Is it. I mean, like, legitimately. I'm sitting next to Nick Wagner, my man came in from the Merc, and we're watching it. We got our little. I got my binocular. They got binoculars because they're cool and can afford two monoculars that are combined. And we're watching. We're like, yeah, he looks like he got the wind knocked out of him pretty good, which was strange on the play. And then from there, you're like, okay, it's still knocked out of him. It's still knocked out of him. And then your initial thought is like, oh, boy. Like, we might be in, like, punctured lung territory. And now we're way off the rails and well beyond any. I mean, we start every football game well beyond our medical. [00:44:34] The bounds of reason for medical analysis. But in that one, it's like, whoa, this might be, like, a really serious thing. Like, he might have to go to the hospital. So it's good to know that he hasn't gone to the hospital. I hope that's because they ruled out that his lung is punctured. But, like, that's. Like, this is stuff that happens in the NFL. [00:44:53] Again, just this side of his body is fucked right now. [00:44:58] It was his hip, and now it's his oblique and it's his ribs. And hope he's not a side sleeper. [00:45:05] And. But again, you know, 13. Thirteen years in the NFL, like, the wear and tear is intense. This Man's played as much as Brandon Cooks. Now he is much, much better than Brandon Cooks and much, much bigger than Brandon Cooks. But I also should note, like, I was stunned with Mike Evans. Hey, J.D. i was stunned with Mike Evans. That like, good to see you. Good to see you. [00:45:24] How skinny he is. [00:45:26] Like you see Mike Evans on tv. I don't think I'd ever seen Mike Evans on field level. Certainly seen him in a press box, but I don't think I'd ever been in like a locker room with him or seen him on field level just throughout the years. And he is a shockingly lanky man. [00:45:44] Take that for what it's worth. [00:45:47] Halton not returning after cramps is weird too. If you have really, really good cramps, it ain't. [00:45:53] That is. [00:45:54] That is like the stinger and Halton. This is where we're at now. You're like taking silver linings with injuries and the Trent Williams one, I mean, when they first off, he's in the tent. I don't think anyone. I didn't notice it and no one around me noticed it when he was in the tent because it happened on the McCaffrey dive. So we're all up to typing away and another touchdown for the Niners and not paying attention to the real storyline. And so Trent is in the tent and then games happening and we look and there's a cart going. Now everyone's paying attention to the cart and you see a very large man with the towel draped over his head sitting in the cart. And you saw it on TV and your mind goes to the worst possible places because of the towel. So when it's like he's got a Stinger and he's not going to return, you're like, flip side, you know, Halton, you see him, you couldn't really figure out what happened to him. It was. [00:46:56] It's on a field goal pat play, something like that. Or was it on the one yard line? Doesn't matter. [00:47:01] You couldn't really figure out what happened to him. So the fact that it was just cramps was again a positive to where you're like, well, Halton will be back next week and maybe you have Trent back next week, which again, these are good things. And relative to where we were at mentally as a collective, to even, you know, entertain the notion of having two guys back with this team is good. They have officially, by the way, run out of spots on the IR to return players. We are never seeing Nick Mark, he is not showing. He is good. [00:47:32] Go to wherever it is you want to go. We don't need you for the rest of the way. Your light hamstring strain has turned season ending because we have run out of spots. [00:47:42] Run out of spots. [00:47:44] The inactives list is going to be probably very easy to figure out next week because they're going to have a bunch of guys who they can't put on IR because the injuries aren't really long enough to justify the four weeks, but might be like up to four weeks. [00:47:55] And then Evans is probably, you know, it's like this is all going to be very easy to figure out. So like that's one easy part of our day to day on a Sunday, who's going to be in, who's going to be out for the Niners, we're going to know on Friday. [00:48:05] Like the inactives will be known on Friday because half of them were known today because you got to include Curtis Rourke as the emergency third quarterback. But an inactive. [00:48:15] So that's fun. That's fun. That's where we're at. It's week four. We just finished week three. [00:48:21] How did Watkins's blocking look? I didn't notice it. Which I guess is a credit to him and we will find out in earnest. Not a lot of tight splits for Watkins, if I'm remembering correctly. Again, not a factor in the second half. I didn't see him breaking open at all in the second half, but he had two really nice catches on really well scheme plays and he made the most of them. And doesn't matter if he was good or bad, he's probably in next week because I don't think Brandon Cooks can do what Jordan Watkins did today and neither does Larry Krueger. [00:48:53] At least all these injuries should be back by week seven or eight. Yeah, but what about the injuries that are to come? [00:48:59] Like, that's the thing. If you're constantly chasing injuries, it just, it just begets and begets and begets and begets. But yes, there, there might be a point. [00:49:11] There might be a point. There is a path to a point. Which could also be the name of this podcast where the Niners like just are healthy for one fleeting beautiful moment in like week 10. They're just healthy. [00:49:28] That would be quite something. I don't think we're gonna get there, but that would be quite something. [00:49:32] All right, what else we have? Good, good point though by Tristan. I like the optimism until kind of start dropping balls. I mean you'd have to catch it or get his hands on it first. [00:49:42] I'm not super worried about the Defense. I mean, the other aspect of this with the defense too, from this is a good point from Tristan. Like the defense played well enough to win. That is about the compliment that you can give the defense today. Given the circumstances of where the defense was at on the defensive line, this was a fine to positive performance. [00:50:03] They still can't stop run. [00:50:07] Arizona's offensive line is shitty. They don't have a good offensive line. And if you don't need to ask me about that, you can ask Jacoby Brissette, who's throwing every pass as if he only has a second and a half to live. They don't have a good offensive line. Love is a really, really good running back. [00:50:21] He didn't have a lot of room to work on the perimeter today, but when they ran it between the tackles, oh boy, there were some gaps. [00:50:28] Now they were chasing the game for so long that a lot of the game plan kind of got shot to hell. [00:50:33] They still can't stop the run on the interior. And I maintain that, you know, is. Is Pop Warner as this sounds. Shout out Stanford legend. [00:50:43] The most important things in football are can you run the ball and can you stop the run? The Niners could run the ball today, right? I feel like the Niners run game is in a good spot. That's not an easy team to run the ball against. They did the thing that we expected them to do. They got it to the outside. They ran outside zone. Now they won the game on an inside zone run. [00:51:00] Christian McCaffrey is just an absolute dude and turned four yards into 12. But they were able to run the ball today really well and I think that they should have windows to do that moving forward. So that's a win. That's one positive note to be sure. I feel like their run game is in a better spot today than it has been at any other point. [00:51:20] They still can't stop the run and at some point they're going. They're not going undefeated. At some point they're losing a game. And the analysis will simply be, well, when you can't stop the run. [00:51:31] Wasn't today. Wasn't today. But yeah, I did not think it was a good rough game either. Real Griff. I didn't think so. [00:51:40] Now that said, there were some that could be called ticky tack, but it's pretty obvious. But there was like the Colby holding penalty was a tough one, if I'm remembering it correctly, that they could have let that one go. [00:51:53] Couple both of the Pisces. [00:51:57] What was it? [00:51:59] Yeah, the, the, the PI on McBride was horseshit. They were both face masking each other. Make that offsetting. There was one other PI that was, that was pretty rough. [00:52:11] Here we go. CMC is an assassin. I mean, he was incredible today. And by the way, if you haven't watched it yet, harrowing images after the game of Christian McCaffrey who apparently got punched directly in the trachea at some point, talking like this at the press conference. [00:52:28] Never say these guys ain't tough. You will never. Even with Jacob cowing, who I, you know, just, I never specifically said he's not tough. I just said he doesn't want the physicality. There is a difference there. [00:52:39] To be on a football field, you have to be fundamentally insane and tough and never ever. I mean, the level of warriors that these guys are for our entertainment and for their financial, yeah, for their bank accounts, let's not forget that that's part of the ball game, too. They ain't playing for the love of the game. They get paid a ton of money. It's kind of, well, they should, given how much we love this stuff. [00:53:05] It is, Yeah. I, I, I don't know the half of it. I don't think y' all know a tenth of it. And yeah, it's, it's brutal. It's brutal. And I will come at it from a point of positivity on like, oh, my God, look at these guys are unbelievable. These guys are real warriors. If I take it any further, I get into a pretty dark spot and then I have to question some things existentially. And so we're just not going to go there. We're just going to pull it, right? We're going to pull it back. We're going to pull it back. Okay, we got a couple more here. [00:53:35] O line has been a revelation. The O line has played very well this year. I think that they have levels that they can still get to. [00:53:44] I don't think they've played, I don't think they've played their best football yet. I think that they're, I think that there's a lot of stuff that frankly should get better. [00:53:56] But Brendel has been awesome. [00:54:00] I haven't heard one ounce of Jake Brandle slander. That was like number two on the list to substation conspiracy theories when it came to 49ers conversation last year. Jake Brendel sugs this and that. Jake Brendel has been incredible. Dominic Puni is leveled up. He's leveled up. He is one of the best guards in football right now. [00:54:20] But I don't think. I don't think McKivitz has actually played all that well, not to his standards. And Colby has been very up and down. It's been good enough to where you keep him in the lineup. You're not looking to replace him or anything. You're going to live with those growing pains and he gives you some good flash. But like he should get better now. Last year we should also note he started here and he ended here and every week it just kind of got worse. That has not been the case this year. So that's a point of positive. And then Trent, before the stinger at least was bathing in the fountain of youth. He's still one of the best tackles in football. We are not in a Philadelphia Eagle situation. We're not in a Detroit Lions situation where reputation has preceded their level of play. In fact, I would argue that their reputation is beneath their level of play currently. And that at least the way I view it and watching it and having very limited and frankly, probably non germane experience at the position because heaven knows the only way I was sniffing an NFL game is if I bought a ticket is I think that they are. I think that they should be better moving forward. I think that there's meat on the bone left there and they're gonna need it. They're gonna need it. But they have been very, very good this season. They have been one of the top offensive lines in football this season. Brock Purdy has not been sacked once. [00:55:37] I'll repeat that. Brock Purdy has not been sacked once. Now a lot of that's Brock Purdy being a feisty little back there. Again, I say this in the most positive way possible. [00:55:46] These are my favorite kind of football players. [00:55:48] Meanwhile, when I say it about like a Kyler Murray, I say it in a very pejorative tone. But you all know where I'm at by now. [00:55:54] And yeah, I just. Again, Brock is playing out of his gourd. He is truly, and I know y' all hate this, but I'm going to keep saying it. [00:56:02] An elevated second coming of Russell Wilson. [00:56:06] That or he's a lesser version of Steve Young. Pick one of the two. But he is, he is operating at an MVP caliber level. He is operating as if the game is moving very, very slowly for him. And he is moving very, very fast on purpose. Purpose. And the offensive line has played well and now they're going to have to lean on it. I think they're going to have to become a more physical football team moving forward. Not that they aren't physical already just because of the lack of skill on the outside, at least for this upcoming week. That is a big ask now against Denver, and we'll get into that as the week progresses. But I think that we're going to need to see a heavy dose of Kalon Black moving forward because that boy brings the physicality. And that also means the offensive line is going to have to start well, continue, and then even take it to another level when it comes to punching stuff. [00:56:56] All right, let's get a couple more in here. [00:56:59] First off, now you're 100% right. [00:57:03] I'm not going to read it for the audio listeners, but oh yeah, spot on. [00:57:07] It's not even. It's. It's not. It's such a good take. It's so. It's so good. [00:57:13] I'm usually pretty on top of getting haircuts here. We are not on top of it. [00:57:19] Yeah, Brissette managing five yards per play on average. But when the game was on the line, he was, he was. Dyson, he was dicing it. [00:57:26] There was some prevent defense. I agree, there's an earlier comment, but it was I like Jacoby Brissette's not going to take you to the playoffs, but Jacoby Brissette's going to get you through a season. I like him. I think he's a good quarterback. I think he's probably, I mean, Mac Jones, Jacoby Brissette, like, those are perhaps the two best backups in the NFL, which means that they're about the 20th best quarterback in the NFL overall. [00:57:51] They should be backups. If you're starting, you're fine. Geno, by the way, looking great for the jets, so kind of put him in that category as well. Those kind of guys do not put Jameis Winston in that category. This is what you get for spending your entire summer just doing the World Cup. [00:58:05] Leave that to the lay people. [00:58:08] Did he think he was going to come back and play or was he just totally pivoting into media? I don't know. Doesn't really matter because I don't really give a about the Giants, but San Francisco Giants, on the other hand, shout out Kruke and Kaithen. But it is. [00:58:22] He's, he's a. He's a good quarterback. He's not their future. He's nothing. He's just here to make some money to get them to where they need to go. [00:58:30] They're close. [00:58:32] They're close. They're one good draft and one good free agency away from being one year away. And I know that. That sounds far. But next year I think that they could have enough talent on the roster to make things interesting in the year after that. I think that they have a chance to make things really interesting. But that's, of course, if everything works out for them. I don't think Carson Beck's that guy for them, but if they can get a quarterback in this upcoming draft and they pick the right one, so they should have a pretty high pick because their schedule's just ruthless. [00:59:02] They're in a position where, like, maybe you bring Brissette back for another year, you kind of do the Kirk Cousins, Fernando Mendoza thing. But how about this next year, they're going to be the Raiders of this year, which is, hey, really, you know, well coached, schemed up. Right. Enough players, it's going to fade, but you're going to feel optimism. And then next year, hey, look out. [00:59:24] Again, all this contingent on football, which never really seems to work out the way that you want it to. Let me just ask the San Francisco 49ers. [00:59:34] The OPIs were both bad. Yeah, yeah. [00:59:39] I don't even know what's going on. They didn't give up 100 for you. First off, it's not Grant Cohen, AFL legend. Grant Cohn a bigger fan. I'm not a fan. [00:59:49] Oh, you're barking up the wrong tree, homie. [00:59:52] Here we go. [00:59:53] It's getting a quick ride for an iv. I thought that was. Yeah, with Trent, that would have been fair. [01:00:00] They can also do IVS on the sideline, I'm pretty sure, but I'm not wrong. [01:00:04] All right, here we go. Imagine what Brock and Prime Evans would have accomplished. I mean, again, I'm coming back to it, which means that we should shut it down. But that throws. [01:00:14] That catch. [01:00:16] That was the best throwing catch I've seen from Brock, who's had, you know, countless good throws and catches. [01:00:22] That was the best one since the Brandon ayuk from Pylon 1 against Pittsburgh, where you're like, oh, oh. They're just. They're just sticking around with these boys. [01:00:31] That made me feel something. That catch today made me feel something. [01:00:37] Kind of. Season hangs in the balance on Mike Evans's injury. Kinda kind of sorta not to be extreme about it. I mean, not to make grand cone look like a bigger fan of the 49ers than me, but what do you think we do here? [01:00:54] All right, here we go. Denver's not looking good. They're not. But they're talented. They're theoretically well coached. I know they're well coached. On defense. And I'm I'm just. I'm very curious to get into their tape after I find out what happened in their game. [01:01:07] And then, yeah, good thing. Watkins decided to show up. [01:01:11] And then the second half happened. Now I'm being a dick. Yep. Good. [01:01:15] All just. Round of applause, Jordan Watkins. Because this is. This is the. The cruel aspect of the NFL is sometimes you only get one shot and sometimes it's your fault, and sometimes it's a combination of circumstances, and in this case, I would say it's both. [01:01:32] But Jordan Watkins made the most of his opportunity today, which means he gets another opportunity and then he gets another opportunity, and then, you know, you gotta stack them. You gotta stack them. Fascinated to watch the tape. Fascinated to talk to Jake. We'll do that tomorrow. Appreciate you all for jumping in. [01:01:47] This was a weird one. Befitting of the game itself. I'm gonna go get animal control to handle the thing that's on my head. We'll talk to you tomorrow night. Sa.
